On Easter Monday we were honoured to be chosen to play at BBC Introducing Live In Session at Nantwich Jazz, Blues and Music Festival, alongside four other local acts showcasing the best new music from across Staffordshire and Cheshire.
The event took place in The Ballroom at The Crown Hotel in Nantwich as part of the town's annual music festival which transforms Laura's local town into a buzzing live music hub. We have performed at the event for the last 4 years but the festival was established in 1996 to bring the town alive with music over the Easter Bank Holiday.
As well as emerging artists and popular local acts, the event saw well-known headline acts this year including King King, Rebecca Downes, Rebecca Ferguson, Tom Seals and James Taylor Quartet.
BBC Introducing's Andrew Marston hosted the live session which will be broadcast on BBC Stoke, Shropshire, Hereford and Worcester through April and May. He said, "This is not only your chance to see who we're tipping as the biggest stars of the future, but a peek behind the curtain of how we record live music for broadcast." Chasing Twisters have been lucky enough to have four tracks already played on BBC Introducing and were chosen along with 4 other acts to perform at the event from over 1,000 artists who had recently submitted music from the local area. "With more than a million songs now uploaded to BBC Introducing, having airplay is one thing - but it's a real accolade and a test of musicianship to be singled out for a live session," says Andrew. The other artists to perform during the afternoon were Lydia Reece, originally from Stoke, Heidi from Leek, Ruby Mae from Stafford and Ollie Hawkins from Nantwich. It was a pleasure to perform alongside fellow country artist Ollie who has already supported Zac Bryan at BST Hyde Park and Country 2 Country Festival.
We were the final performance of the day and thoroughly enjoyed watching the other acts before our 4 song set - narrowing it down to just 4 songs was the hardest part! We performed our next single Skinny Dip Creek, latest release All The Way To Déjà Vu, a brand new unrecorded song Oceans Between Us and foot-stomping sing-along favourite Different Kind Of Country. The performance was followed by an interview with Andrew which will be broadcast along with the live session on 7th and 9th May on BBC Introducing for the local area - BBC Stoke, Shropshire, Hereford and Worcester. This will be available live on radio, online, Freeview Channel 715 and for 30 days afterwards on BBC Sounds. After the show was over we were delighted to sign the BBC Introducing Banner and tried to spot other local stars names. BBC Introducing has been supporting the best new music since 2005 broadcasting more than 2,000 sessions and we are so pleased to featured in one of them!
